A Detox Plan

With celebrities extolling the virtues of a detox plan. Especially the unfortunate incident with Beyonce (she lost 20 lb. in 10 days) for her roll in Dream girls with an extremely radical detox plan. What many people missed was the weight loss was strictly water weight and very quickly went back on to Beyonce once filming was finished.

Water weight weight loss is extremely disappointing, because you lose the weight so quickly and are very excited about your success, until you gain it back just as quickly!

Some celebrities claim a detox plan will do everything from helping in getting rid of cellulite, banish colds, promote weight loss. You will feel better be more energetic, calmer, your blood pressure and bad cholesterol levels will be lower and you will recover quickly from those other annoying little health problems!

It certainly sounds great.

The idea behind a detox is very much like what happened when Arthur Agatston--MD (a heart specialist) developed a way, through nutrition to correct blood chemistry to improve heart health. A huge (unforeseen) side effect of the program to improve blood chemistry, was weight loss. So Doctor Agatston, convinced by others, put his principles into a book and called it The South Beach Diet.

The problem is, with any detox plan, health experts question, just how healthy detox diets are. This should be of great concern.

Very few people will go through all the training and education to become a medical doctor--strictly for the money. My point is the vast majority of medical experts CARE about you, your health and are not withholding valuable health information from you.

The majority of nutritionists, dietitians and doctors are aware of the programs, devices, and concoctions out there for detoxing, but understand our bodies are capable of getting rid of waste without the aid of any detoxing program and believe any advantage a detoxing regime provides is minimal.

There is no scientific evidence to support the claim our bodies need any help to detoxify. No scientific research can show that detox diets work. Everything is anecdotal--a friend tells a friend, about a web site, a news story, a radio program, a TV infomercial, an opportunity meeting--where a miracle cure is revealed to the great unwashed masses, by a guru who discovered the secret being withheld by the elite!

The only absolutely proven detoxing that exists is--more fiber promotes faster and better elimination--ridding the body of toxins that can effect the colon.

Clean fresh pure water--makes the organs that eliminate waste function better--thus removing more toxins at a faster rate. Clean, fresh, pure water will also reduce the strain on organs that remove toxins from the body.

Our liver, lungs, kidneys and skin were designed to efficiently and effectively remove toxins from our bodies.

Health experts are very critical of strict detox plans, that if followed for a long time, will lead to nutrient deficiencies and cause health problems in later life.

The best detox plan is lots of good, clean, pure water every day. How hard is that?
